Hay Accumulator

A hay accumulator is a piece of farm equipment used in the process of harvesting and baling hay. Its primary purpose is to gather loose hay or straw into neat, uniform piles, making it easier to handle and transport. Hay accumulators are typically attached to a tractor or other agricultural machinery and are commonly used in large-scale hay and straw production operations.

Here’s how a hay accumulator generally works:

  1. Pickup: The hay accumulator begins by using a pickup mechanism to collect the loose hay or straw from the ground. This pickup may be in the form of rotating tines or a conveyor belt.
  2. Compression: After gathering the material, the hay accumulator compresses it into a compact stack or pile. This compression helps reduce the volume of the hay, making it more manageable.
  3. Stacking: Once the hay is compressed, the accumulator stacks it into uniform piles. These piles are typically rectangular or square in shape, which makes it easier to load them onto trailers or into storage.
  4. Ejection: When the accumulator reaches a preset size or when the operator decides, it ejects the stacked hay onto the ground or directly onto a trailer. Some accumulators come with features for adjustable pile size and direction of ejection.
